  • Mountain Loop Highway is open! The Mountain Loop Highway was opened from Granite Falls to Darrington today, May 24, 2017!  The snow has been plowed at Barlow Pass so trailheads in this area still have some snow melting out but is melting pretty fast.  Time to start planning your summer fun with great outdoor adventures or just making a day excursion driving the Loop.  Stop and get a bite to eat while in Darrington and learn more about the Mountain Loop Highway at Mountain Loop Books and Coffee in Darrington and Green Gables General Store in Granite Falls.

  • Sloan Creek Road Currently Closed Sloan Creek Road, FSR #49 is currently closed due to winter storm damage.  Damage for this road will be assessed once the snow finishes melting.  This is the road that accesses North Fork Sauk Falls, Harold Engles Memorial Grove, Lost Creek Ridge, Sloan Peak Climbing Route, North Fork Sauk & Bald Eagle - Curry Gap Trails.

  • Getting Ready To Open The Mountain Loop Highway The Snohomish County Road Crews are opening the Mountain Loop Highway by logging out and will start blading the road today, April 6th. This work will be from MP 36 (Bedal Bridge and Gate) north to the pavement at the intersection of the Loop and FSR #23, White Chuck road. WATCH for Equipment!!  Keep in mind Barlow Pass needs to be cleared to go all the way through to Granite Falls at this time.
