Nearby Mountain Loop Recreation

The Clear Creek Campground is near some nice waterfalls, the North Fork Sauk Falls, Asbestos Creek Falls on the way to the Eight-mile Trail and the early season waterfalls at Cougar Hollow.  All of these waterfalls involve a forest road drive or short hike.

The White Chuck River Boat Launch is just a short distance away, a popular whitewater rafting destination.  There is a picnic table there and vault toilet.  It’s not unusual to see people panning for gold in the confluence of the Sauk and White Chuck Rivers at the launch.

This area has some very renowned rock climbing such as the famous Three O’clock Rock and Green Giant Buttress.  For those seeking some bouldering, the Lucid Boulders and White Chuck – D – Ton boulders are a short drive away.  See Darrington Rock climbing.

Clear Creek Campground is located near the confluence of the White Chuck River and Clear Creak on the beautiful Sauk River, right off the scenic Mountain Loop Highway and a short distance from Darrington to the north.  This was once the site of the historical Clear Creek Ranger Station, Each campsite is equipped with a tent pad and  parking for vehicles, smaller motorhomes and trailers.

To get to Clear Creek Campground from Darrington, drive 3.5 miles south on the Mountain Loop Highway, the campground will be on the left.
