Some Great Holiday Fun!

posted Nov 26, 2011, 2:28 PM by Martha Rasmussen

Darrington, WA can add a lot of old fashioned charm to you holiday season.  There are several locally owned shops in town with truly unique gifts, such as, hand crafted wreaths at the Honeysuckle House, soaps and candles at Clear Creek Candles and also some wonderful places for antique shopping.  If you are looking for that special Christmas tree this year you might consider adding a new adventure for the holiday season and find the perfect tree out in the forest.  Christmas tree permits are currently on sale at the Darrington Ranger Station or the Honeysuckle House in town.  Mark your calendars for some great Christmas fun on December 3rd, starting at 9 am with the Christmas Bazaar.   Santa will be arriving by helicopter to see the kids, the school will be full of local vendors and be sure not to miss the Children's LEGO Exhibition.  Following at 5 pm the lighting of the Christmas tree happens at Old School Park with fun and caroling then off to the Cascade Senior Center for warm refreshments.  At 7 pm everyone is invited to the winter community contra dance at the Mansford Grange.  It is casual dress and there is no experience needed just a willingness to have a lot of fun!

How could we make this perfect day any better?  If you love to watch the majestic bald eagles, just getting here will be part of a great adventure.  The eagles have returned to the rivers foraging on salmon in preparation for their nesting season and are often seen near the rivers roosting in trees as you drive to Darrington.  What could be a more perfect way to spend a day!
