Mountain Loop Gate Closes For Winter

posted Dec 17, 2011, 3:36 PM by Martha Rasmussen

After 4 days of being stuck in the snow a vehicle has been pulled from where it was and is on their way home.  The Mountain Loop Gate is now being closed for the winter.  From the Darrington side the road is clear to Forest Service Road #49, Sloan Creek Road.  The barricade on #49 still remains but the "enter only with hard hat restrictions" has been lifted and the sign removed.  You are able to walk to the North Fork Falls Trailhead however walking past the barricade will add 1 mile to your hike one way.  This time of year it is always a good idea to call the Darrington Ranger Station at: 360-436-1155 and check on road conditions.
